Come with me and we will be in a world of pure imagination. To the confines of music and politics we go......

Rock Star Supersucko....

Last night I decided to give this ‘great’ show rockstar supernova a listen. My two closest musical friends watch it and of course my favorite patio dwellers. It can’t be that bad right? Wrong! I had briefly seen pieces of it before, I won’t lie, I mean who wouldn’t stop flipping channels when Brooke Burke is on the screen? While I did not sit through the whole thing, I did watch for a few minutes turn the channel and come back, so I maybe saw half. To me, it is just bad.....these people can’t sing, even when they scream it sounds contrived. It seems every person that tries to sing now a days sounds exactly the same...that low rasp on top of this semi-baritone voice and out of breath before the end of the line.

Now admittedly, I hate rock stars. Despise them in fact. It is not me trying to be different or cool either....I just hate the attitude, the image conciousness, etc. It even effects what I listen to at times. I am not sure I will buy the new Killers album coming out just because Brandon Flowers is such a huge ass hole.

Anyway, in order to cleanse my ears and stay true to making lists out of anything on this blog, the following is a list of my favorite vocalists/singers playing today:

Jeff Tweedy - Wilco
Eddie Vedder - Pearl Jam
Matt Berninger - The National
Ian Sefchick - Creeper Lagoon/ On The Speakers
Kele - Bloc Party
Thom Yorke - Radiohead
Ed Harcourt
Ryan Adams
David Line - Seafood
Amy Milan - Stars

Long Live Seattle.....

I spent Monday and Tuesday in the great city of Seattle on my gracious company's dime. Though it was too short of a time, I must say it looks like my kind of town. Things tend to let you down if you look forward to them too much but not Seattle. The weather alone was fantastic, 75 degrees compared to 106 here in hell....umm, I mean Dallas. I was able to don my favorite outerwear comfortably, long pants and a t shirt....it makes the ladies swoon! Other than the weather, you just get the vibe that Seattle is a real independent town from the people to the shops to the sites. The Puget Sound is beautiful, the market areas were great. The winter time maybe a tad uncomfortable, I am thinking that is the only down side.

Unfortunately, I had no time to stalk the boys in Pearl Jam, Crooked Fingers, Minus the Bear, Band of Horses, Death Cab, etc, etc. Next time boys!!!

Sweet Marie.....

Oh sweet Marie, what tales you inspire the boys to weave.

'Sweet Marie' by Crooked Fingers

Drinking sparkling wine and sniffing glue
I've been looking for some soft abuse
Maybe your big brother he don't see it that way
But he ain't the one who tonight I'm gonna meet
Caust tonight, tonight I swear I'm heading down to make my stand
With that other boy you call your man
Way up from the bottom I'm gonna hit the street
And scare that child so hard til he's out of your reach

So you and I can meet now while your loves away
I know you would never cheat with anyone but me
It's easy now for you cause you don't have to choose
And there ain't no way he can touch you now
My Sweet Marie

You and I can go down where nobody else will be
I know you could never cheat with anyone but me
There's nothing left to do and we're hidden out of view
And there ain't no way that they can reach us now

Drinking sparkling wine and cheap perfume
I went looking for some soft abuse
Maybe your new boy he don't see it that way
Cause tonight I swear I'm gonna set that pussy bastard straight

So you and I can meet now while your other loves away
I know you would never cheat with anyone but me
It's so easy now for you cause you don't have to choose
And there ain't no way that you can touch him now
My Sweet Marie

'Sweet Marie' by The Anniversary

Sweet Marie, there's a hole where your heart should be
And on the hill she's begging for a harmony
Sweet Marie, there's a hole where your heart should be
And on the hill she's begging for a harmony

What beautiful lies you've been told
What terrible truths drown your soul
She hides behind all my lies

Oh you need to be loved
Oh you need to be loved
Oh you need all my love tonight - all my love

Sweet Marie, how cold your body can be
And on the hill she's begging for a harmony
Such a beautiful kiss in the face of fear
Such a beautiful song burns through your ears
She hides behind all my lies

Oh you need to be loved
Oh you need to be loved
Oh you need all my love tonight - all my love

Oh you need to be loved
Oh you need to be loved
Oh you need to be loved
Oh you need...
